Pitreavie Frame Running Group, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, will host their sixth yearly frame running festival on May 2nd.

A total of 30 competitors, representing seven clubs from around the country, will take to the track at Pitreavie Athletics Centre for the event.

Formed in 2015, the Pitreavie Frame Running Group gives people with a disability, like cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and those who may usually be restricted to wheelchairs, the opportunity to run independently.

Those taking part have the aid of a frame runner, a custom-built tricycle, with no pedals.

Frame running will make its Paralympic debut at the Los Angeles games in 2028, and the festival will see kids as young as four attempting to run their first 40 metres, and international stars going for personal bests.

Pierette Melville, who is the group's head coach, said: "It is a wonderful event that brings together the frame running community in Scotland.

"The event is open to all frame runners of any ability or experience. It is a wonderful opportunity for all."

The festival will begin at 11am and is due to run until 2pm.
